Second Round of $1.6M in Energy Efficiency Grants for Local Governments

Thursday, January 23, 2025/Categories: News Board

The second round of Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) funding is now available from Virginia Energy. With up to $100,000 available for eligible local governments, the Energy Marketing, Education, and Outreach (MEO) Sub-grants program assists cities, counties, and towns in Virginia in encouraging residents and small businesses to improve energy efficiency and conservation. In addition to assisting residents and small business owners in lowering their energy bills and creating healthier, more comfortable buildings, this initiative serves as a catalyst for new economic opportunities within these communities. Funding can be used to address a variety of goals, from community education programs to energy audits, energy auditor training, and more

Applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis until all funding has been awarded or until 11:59 pm on February 21, 2025. Details, eligibility requirements, support materials, and the application can be found here. Localities can opt to partner together on a single project to braid their respective EECBG funds together or partner with Virginia Energy's MEO vendor to streamline project implementation.

Virginia Energy will be holding two virtual office hours in February to assist localities with their applications. Join our grant specialists on February 4th from 3:00-4:00 pm or February 11th from 10:00-11:00 am to ask questions about the Marketing, Energy, and Outreach Sub-grant process, application, or your project and to learn about the projects awarded during the first round of funding. We want as many communities as possible to participate and encourage you to submit an application to help your community benefit from their energy choices.

Virtual Office Hours: February 4th, 3-4 pm or February 11th, 10-11 am
