Virginia Municipal League Installs New Board of Directors

The membership of the Virginia Municipal League (VML) recently installed new officers and members to its Board of Directors. The new leadership was elected Monday, Oct. 9, 2023, at the league’s annual conference which was held in Norfolk this year. 

A.D. “Chuckie” Reid, vice-mayor for the Town of Farmville will continue as president after serving the remainder of Town of Pennington Gap Councilmember Jill Carson’s term following her passing in early 2023. Prior to that, Vice-Mayor Reid was the president-elect.

Steve Trivett, mayor for the Town of Ashland, was elected president-elect. He was previously an at-large member.

D. Dwayne Tuggle, mayor for the Town of Amherst was elected vice-president. He was previously the Town Section chair.

Elected as at-large members of the Board were C. Todd Young, mayor for the Town of Saltville, and Amelia Ross Hammond, councilmember for the City of Virginia Beach. Continuing as at-large members on the Board are Robert C. Ike Jr., councilmember for the City of Chesapeake; Kelly Burke, mayor for the Town of Leesburg; and Stephanie Moon Reynolds, councilmember for the City of Roanoke.

The Board of Directors is rounded out by Immediate Past President Jon Stehle, councilmember for the City of Fairfax; Urban Section Chair Michelle Davis Younger, mayor for the City of Manassas; City Section Chair Randy C. Eads, city manager for the City of Bristol, and Town Section Chair Phil Miskovic, mayor for the Town of Crewe. The section chairs were elected during section meetings held earlier in the day.

VML’s Board of Directors oversees the activities of the League. Representatives of the Board of Directors must be elected or appointed officials of a city, town, or county that is a member of VML.
