Virginia Municipal League installs new Board of Directors

Virginia Municipal League installs new Board of Directors

The membership of the Virginia Municipal League (VML) recently installed new officers and members to its Board of Directors. The new leadership was elected Monday, Oct. 13, 2025, at the league’s annual conference which was held in Roanoke this year.

Dwayne Tuggle, Mayor for the Town of Amherst became President. Prior to that, Mayor Tuggle was the President-Elect.

Kelly Burk, Mayor for the Town of Leesburg, was elected President-Elect. She was previously Vice President.

Curtis Bethany, Vice Mayor for the City of Newport News was elected Vice President. He was previously an At-Large member.

Elected to 3-year terms as At-Large members were Michelle Davis-Younger, Mayor for the City of Manassas, and Letty Hardi, Mayor for the City of Falls Church.

Elected to a 2-year term as an At-Large member was Anthony Schienschang, Town Manager for the Town of Gordonsville.

Continuing as at-large members on the Board are Robert Wood, Town Manager for the Town of Rocky Mount; Dr. Amelia Ross-Hammond, Council Member for the City of Virginia Beach; and Becky Nave, Mayor for the City of Bristol.

The Board of Directors is rounded out by Immediate Past President Steve Trivett, Mayor for the Town of Ashland; Urban Section Chair Dany Fleming, Vice Mayor for the City of Harrisonburg; City Section Chair Renée Turk, Mayor for the City of Salem; and Town Section Chair Michael Stovall, Council Member for the Town of Vinton. The section chairs were elected during section meetings held earlier in the day.

VML’s Board of Directors oversees the activities of the league. Representatives of the Board of Directors must be elected or appointed officials of a city, town, or county that is a member of VML.
