Local Option Sales & Use Tax for School 
Construction bill will be heard Friday, Jan. 27 at 7:00am

HB2316 (Bourne); Sales and use tax, local; additional tax authorized in all counties & cities to support schools.
This legislation would grant any city or county the authority to impose an additional one percent sales and use tax dedicated solely for school construction if approved by referendum.
Important to note:
- The legislation simply grants the authority to implement the tax if approved by referendum; it does not mandate that it be used.
- There is a $25 billion school funding problem. This legislation provides localities with another funding source to help mitigate this issue.
