Water Treatment Plant Operator

The successful candidate will perform routine semi-skilled work in the operation of a water treatment facility, maintain operational parameters, and records data. Also, monitors SCADA and recording equipment and determines usage or flow, collects samples from designated points, and performs routine physical and chemical analyses.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required. Possession of a valid and appropriate driver’s license. Ability to complete within 6 months from receipt, California State University Sacramento, Small Water Systems Operation and Maintenance Course. Ability to complete within 9 months, 3 facility Demonstration of Capabilities, DOC’s. This is the first stage in our career development, required to achieve compliance with Virginia Department of Heath Regulations.
The remaining steps, obtaining a Class 4 Waterworks License within 1 year, Class 3 Waterworks License required within 2 years, Class 2 Waterworks License within 3 years, and completion with Class 1 Waterworks License within 5 years. Salary adjustments are delivered for each phase of career development. All timelines are from date of hire and licenses are issued by the Virginia Department of Professional Occupation and Regulation.
