Water Treatment Plant Operator
Job Description:
The City of Galax is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of night shift Water Treatment Plant Operator in the Public Utilities Department. Can be a Trainee or up to a Class II Operator. The successful candidate’s duties may include flushing hydrants and checking water pumping stations; perform equipment maintenance and lubrication; perform routing building and grounds maintenance including cleaning, mowing and painting. Duties and responsibilities increase with higher certifications. Possession of high school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience. The ability to obtain a Virginia Class II DPOR License Certification in Water in a reasonable time frame. Possession of an appropriate driver’s license, and the ability and willingness to obtain an appropriate commercial driver’s license, valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
