The Utilities Department is a hard working team of friendly professionals who strive together to exceed excellence! The Water Pollution Control Division (WPCD) is responsible for the safe and efficient treatment of wastewater generated within the Leesburg service area and the subsequent stabilization and disposal of the solid wastes produced to ensure the protection of public health and the environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
This position involves entry-level technical work in the Utilities Department in the operation and maintenance and cleaning of the water purification or wastewater treatment plant and related facilities and equipment. Work involves reading and recording gauges, instruments, and meters; regulating valves; drawing samples; maintaining accurate records; performing tests; and maintaining plant facilities, equipment and grounds under close supervision with an experienced operator.
Qualifications
-HS/GED
-Ability to obtain a Class IV Water Works Operator License for Water Supply or Class IV Wastewater Operator License for Water Pollution Control within 18 months
– Ability to obtain a Class III Water Works Operators License for Water Supply or Class III
Wastewater Operator License for Water Pollution Control within 3.5 years of date of hire.
-Possession of a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record
– Certifications in CPR/AED and First Aid or ability to obtain within one year of employment
· Knowledge in MS Suite applications and computer program applications appropriate to the position.
· Available and able to work shifts (nights, weekends and holidays)
