Utility Maintenance Technician
Job Description:
This position performs technical duties in the operation and maintenance of the City’s utility system.
Some of the major duties include:
-Performs daily inspections of vehicles and equipment.
-Performs maintenance of sewer pumping equipment; evaluates equipment for repair or replacement needs; cleans and removes grease.
-Responds to sewer pumping station alarms.
-Performs well maintenance, inspection, and testing of chemical dosages.
-Performs sewer bypass operations of gravity and force mains.
-Locates underground utilities.
-Performs smoke and dye tests to sewers.
-Performs confined space entries of sanitary sewer manholes and pumping stations.
-Responds to after-hours emergencies.
-Performs grease trap inspections.
-Performs sewer service cleaning as needed.
-Assists with TV inspections of sewer lines.
-Operates dump truck, backhoe, loader, pumps, snow plow, and salt spreader.
-Assists in removing debris from streets.
-Provides reports and as-built drawings as directed.
-Assists in other utility operations as needed.
-Performs grease trap inspections.
-Performs other related duties as assigned.
