Tree Crew Supervisor
This position is primarily responsible for, overseeing, leading and participating in the daily scheduled work assignments of groundskeeper crews to include arboricultural and landscaping operations for assigned areas, various routine maintenance, special projects and logistical support for city sponsored functions and special events. Municipal grounds supports the maintenance of city properties such as municipal facilities, parks, athletic, and other recreational grounds. Crew work activities will involve operating specialized commercial motor equipment, power tools and hand tools, perform routine and skilled tasks such as, complete tree care, landscaping, grading, mowing and trimming of turf, planting, weeding, fertilizing, pruning, removing dead vegetation and debris, edging, mulching, paving, perform repairs and construction. Crew Supervisor tasks will include but are not limited to:
Oversees, participates and reviews work assignments, ensures staff have the proper tools, equipment and supplies to complete assignments and work is perform efficiently and safely. Assists with staff organization and development, work schedules, hiring and interviewing, performance evaluations, employee relations, prioritizing work related activities. Plan, facilitate and participate in training related to overall tree care, landscaping and equipment operations.
Provides customer service relations to a diverse population that meets the expectations of the City’s Customer Care Standards. Interacts with the public, contractors, citizens and other agencies in person, by email, fax and telephone to resolve concerns and inquiries, problem solves and conveys information as assigned.
Plans, develops and implements routine, corrective, emergency maintenance and special projects for tree canopies, hedges, and shrubs including; trimming, pruning, crowning, grinding, shaping, removals, transplanting, fertilizing, spraying, etc. for properties under the purview of the Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department.
Perform routine, special and emergency inspections of tree canopies, hedges, and shrubs. Provides emergency tree care response in a timely manner to ensure citizen/employee safety and avert or prevent further property damage.
Treats and prevents disease and infestations with pesticides, including mixing chemicals according to manufacturer’s specifications.
Operates specialized commercial tree care equipment such as buck truck, boom lift or JLG with aerial heights
