Transit Dispatcher
Job Description:
Are you seeking a rewarding full-time position that allows you to utilize your customer service and administrative support skills in a casual yet professional work environment? If so, the Department of Public Transportation’s Transit Dispatcher position may be the right opportunity for you!
The ideal candidate for this position will be available to work the assigned shift (Monday – Friday, approximately 12:00pm – 9:00pm), have a thorough knowledge of the City’s street system and the location of major buildings and facilities, and have the ability to provide excellent customer service.
As a Transit Dispatcher, you’ll be responsible for:
– Receiving, dispatching, and recording transportation service requests;
– Preparing and maintaining appropriate records and files, including transportation logs and dispatch sheets;
– Providing information to callers about services and routing;
– Providing information to drivers, as needed;
– Calling replacement and substitute drivers, as needed;
– Receiving, counting, and providing receipts for monies received from drivers;
– Preparing tally sheets and reconciling receipts each day;
– Preparing time sheets and recording in and out times, mileage, and passenger data;
– Operating a City vehicle in the performance of the job duties;
– Performing related tasks, as required.
