Sustainability Manager

Job Description:

What You’ll Be Doing
Performs a variety of project management and policy analysis work related to the Town’s environmental sustainability and energy conservation efforts. Responsible for the overall administration, development, and management of environmental sustainability policies and programs. Leads Town wide efforts and assists departments with planning, developing, implementing, and managing sustainability program initiatives and special projects within approved work plans and as directed. The primary purpose of this position is to research, propose, and upon approval launch environmental sustainability and energy conservation initiatives or policies, which may also include transferring ongoing monitoring, maintenance, or updating to other departments. The Sustainability Manager is accountable for formulating policy for approval, developing goals and objectives, and is assigned a high degree of administrative discretion in their execution. Responsibilities include representing the Town in a variety of public forums, developing constructive community relationships with a variety of diverse interest groups, and building consensus regarding policy initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Business or Public Administration, Public Policy, Urban Design, or a related field. Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience in environmental program development, sustainability, resource conservation, waste reduction, recycling, climate change, or related area.
