As Superintendent of Traffic Operations, you will be responsible for the day-to-day oversight of all aspects of the Traffic Operations division, to include traffic signals, parking meters, signs, pavement markings, streetlights, and the City impound lot. As technology for traffic signals and parking meters rapidly evolves, you will be responsible for evaluating new technology, embracing advances, and implementing new technologies that help meet the City’s goals and objectives.

The Opportunity includes:
•Plans, organizes, and manages the Traffic Operations Division’s field operations including signs, signals, parking meters, pavement markings, street lights, impound lot, and special projects;
•Directs, supervises, and evaluates work crew staff who install and maintain traffic, pedestrian and parking control systems;
•Assigns, reviews and evaluates the work of subordinate staff;
•Conducts field inspections to ascertain quality of work and to make necessary corrections;
•Initiates and drafts contracts and agreements for work related to traffic operations, e.g., signal installation, pavement markings, and other operational activity needs, etc.;
•Provides management oversight for City contractors related to traffic operations;
•Recommends changes to improve the efficiency and productivity of the section to the Division Chief, i.e., new technology and equipment;
•Participates in the preparation of the operating budget for the section and manages operations, project expenditures, and requisitions;
•Analyzes data and records to support forecasting for staffing, equipment and safety awareness, inventory and procurement of supply and materials;
•Develops and implements Work Zone Traffic Control plans for internal City jobs.
