Stuarts Draft Wastewater Plant Operator Trainee

Job Description:

Title of Position: Stuarts Draft Wastewater Plant Operator Trainee
Position type: Full-time, Non-Exempt
Responsibilities: Operate domestic wastewater treatment systems including chemical, physical, and microbiological processes. Perform routine tasks, necessary tests, and apply judgment based upon training and defined operations and maintenance practices related to the processing of wastewater at treatment facilities and/or pump stations.

Required experience: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or vocational school and some experience in activities that require both written and oral instructions and using mathematics.
Required skills: Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, to write routine reports and correspondence, and to speak effectively to the public or employees of the organization. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Must have the ability to compute rate, ratio, and to draw and interpret line graphs, calculate percentages, area, circumference and volume, and be able to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Must have the ability to solve practical problems, troubleshoot systems, and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Must be able to operate small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems, operate computers for data entry, Microsoft Word and/or accounting purposes, and operate industry related tools and equipment.
