Specialty Class Instructor (Part-Time)

Job Description:

Job Summary
Instructors are responsible for organizing and planning specialized recreational classes/programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Plan and actively take part with participants in the specified recreational program
• Oversee all activities to ensure the protection and safety of participants
• Organize and plan recreational activities for the age range that is specified in class/program
• Supervise 4-20 participants per class
• Deal effectively with participants
• Follow verbal and written instructions and adhere to Recreation Program Policies
• Maintain order, enforce rules and follow discipline procedures
• Enthusiastic and motivated
• Excellent verbal communication skills to be able to give instructions to participants
• Instructor must be knowledgeable on the subject/program they are teaching/Instructing.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education and experience
• High school diploma or GED equivalent; supplemented by a minimum of one (1) year of experience in teaching/ instructing classes, preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job
• Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
Licenses and Certification
• Valid, Virginia driver’s license with the ability to meet/maintain Town insurability requirements, preferred
