Senior Zoning Analyst
This position involves technical work that primarily supports zoning related tasks within the Department of Planning and Zoning under the general supervision of the Zoning Administrator. This position is responsible for administering proffer tracking and auditing while also having a significant role in the development of zoning text amendments. Other frequent responsibilities will include: assisting with zoning enforcement efforts; performing occupancy inspections; and the processing of zoning permits. This position requires strong oral and writing communication skills. Emphasis is placed on customer service to both internal staff and members of the public in-person, over the phone and through email requests.

Collegiate coursework and/or degree specifically in the area of planning/zoning, plan review, engineering, or permit processing.
Demonstrated experience specific to proffer processing and/or management at a local, county or state agency.
Demonstrated experience in zoning inspections and zoning enforcement.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
High degree of accountability for following established protocols and procedures.
Possess a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
Bachelor’s degree in Planning and Zoning or related field, or completion of a two-year college course in the area of planning, such as urban planning, public administration or a related field, or one (1) year of experience in the building/construction or planning field.
Two (2) or more years of experience in proffer management at a Virginia locality.
Two (2) or more years of experience in zoning inspections and zoning enforcement at a Virginia locality.
Virginia Association of Zoning Officials certification.
Bilingual in English/Spanish.
