Requires a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school. Requires a minimum of eight (8) years professional legal experience, five (5) of which must have been in government/municipal legal practice.
A minimum five (5) years equivalent experience in employment law.
A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in litigating significant cases in federal, state trial and appellate courts required; first chair trial experience in federal court is preferred, demonstrated first chair trial experience in state court is required.
Must be an active member in good standing in the Virginia State Bar and admitted to practice in federal court.
Applicants must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license issued by the State of Virginia and must have a satisfactory driver’s record based on the City of Hampton criteria.
Any person offered employment in the position shall be subject to a criminal history background check.
A qualifying combination of experience may be considered in lieu of the more specific criteria outlined above.
