School Bus Aide

The School Bus Aide is a part-time position (no benefits) and a preferred hiring range of $12.50 – $14.17 per hour. The ideal candidate for this position will be available when Harrisonburg City Public Schools are in session to help ensure that local students arrive to school, field trips, and athletics events in a safe manner. Opportunities for additional hours may be available for candidates selected to fill this position.
The School Bus Aide position will:
– Assist the school bus driver in maintaining discipline;
– Assist students boarding and leaving the school bus;
– Assist cleaning and maintaining the inside of the school bus.
The ideal candidate for this position will have the ability to assist children using patience and understanding and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, the general public, associates and students.
Physical Requirements: This is moderate work requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and some amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching, and grasping; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to outside environmental conditions, noise, vibration, and atmospheric conditions.
