Sanitary Infrastructure Engineer (Civil Engineer III)
The Department of Transportation and Environmental Services (T&ES) is seeking a Sanitary Infrastructure Engineer in the Sanitary Infrastructure Division to perform civil engineering work and manage projects related to the City’s sanitary and combined sewer systems. This position will manage a variety of sanitary sewer projects, including those aimed at reducing infiltration and inflow into the sanitary sewer system and other capital projects within the Division. The successful candidate is expected will have a strong technical background in the field of civil engineering, along with strong time management skills to effectively manage competing priorities. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Sanitary Infrastructure Senior Engineer.
Duties related to this position will also include:
•Responsible for the management of sanitary sewer programs, capital projects and sewer related initiatives, following City procedures and policies to achieve project objectives.
•Monitors sanitary sewer projects, including the work done by consultant teams, to ensure conformance with scope, schedule and budget in order to best meet project objectives.
•Responsible for managing planning level engineering of projects aimed at reducing inflow and infiltration into the sanitary sewer system and reducing the potential for sanitary sewer back-ups during periods of heavy rainfall and associated flooding.
•Ensures that projects conform to all applicable City standards and are in conformance with all applicable local, state and federal regulations.
•Works collaboratively with the Department of Project Implementation to ensure a seamless transition of projects from planning level engineering stage to design and construction.
•Provides comprehensive reviews on engineering plans, specifications, and other engineering related reports/documents throughout the design process, along with monitoring projects during construction.
•Works with stakeholders, engages the community, and presents information regarding sanitary related programs to residents, outside agencies, senior staff, and City officials. Seeks stakeholder input, gains consensus, and makes recommendations in the best interest of the City and its residents.
