Job Description:

Laborer I, Laborer II and PT Seasonal Positions – The City of Radford has multiple openings for Laborer I, Laborer II and PT Seasonal openings in the Public Works Department. The successful candidate will perform a variety of unskilled and semiskilled manual labor tasks assisting with public works, water lines and solid waste and related operations. Ability to understand and follow specific oral instructions; ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some experience in performance of heavy manual work. Exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Some positions must possess an appropriate commercial’s driver license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Hourly rate of pay $12.00 (seasonal) and $14.37 – $15.04). The City offers an excellent benefit package that includes enrollment in VRS and 100% employer paid insurance for employee only coverage with no deductible, vacation and sick time along with life insurance coverage for full-time positions. $250 sign-on bonus paid after 6 months of consecutive employment with no warnings Successful completion of pre-employment testing and background screening is a must.
