Property Maintenance Inspector
Under direct supervision of the town’s building official, the purpose of this position is to ensure town residential structures are built and maintained consistent with nationally recognized standards, as adopted by the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code, as well as town ordinances, regarding health, safety, welfare, energy and water conservation, adequate egress facilities, sanitary equipment, light and ventilation, fire safety facilities, structural strength and physically handicapped and age accessibility. Employees in this classification conduct town residential property inspections and enforce town and other applicable regulations.
•Associates degree required, with vocational or technical training; emphasis in building trades or property maintenance
•Supplemented by a minimum of three years’ experience in building trades or property maintenance, including carpentry, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, general contracting and property maintenance, or
•Associates degree with emphasis in engineering/architectural training; supplemented by three years’ experience and/or training
