The Department of Neighborhood Development Services is seeking qualified candidates to be considered for the position of Property Maintenance & Housing Inspector who will be primarily responsible for the following City Neighborhoods to provide inspections of UVA Off – Grounds Student Housing areas: 10th & Page, Barracks Road, Fifeville, Fry’s Spring, JPA, Lewis Mountain, Starr Hill, and Venable. Position performs technical work in the enforcement of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code and applicable Charlottesville City Code requirements. Responsible for the enforcement of the Virginia Maintenance Code as a Property Maintenance & Housing Inspector of existing properties and buildings; Performs related work as required. Reports to the Property Maintenance Code Official.
The preferred hiring amount is between $17.01 to $21.25 an hour ($35,373.05 to $44,200 annually). Starting offer is based on applicable education, experience, and internal equity. This is a full-time, non-exempt, position. Minimum Qualifications:
-High school diploma or GED required.
-Minimum of 3 years of experience in the building construction trades and/or building inspections OR any combination of education and
experience which would confer equivalent knowledge and ability shall be deemed to satisfy this requirement.

-Certification per Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code, (Virginia Certification Standards) within 18 months of hire.
