Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector
Job Description:

This position performs technical work in the enforcement of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code and applicable Charlottesville City Code requirements. Responsible for the enforcement of the Virginia Maintenance Code as a Property Maintenance & Housing Inspector of existing properties and buildings. Performs related work as required. Reports to the Property Maintenance Code Official.
The preferred hiring amount is between $17.01 to $21.25 an hour ($35,373.05 to $44,200 annually). Starting offer is based on applicable education, experience, and internal equity. This is a full-time, non-exempt, position. Minimum Qualifications:
– High school diploma or GED required.
– Minimum of 3 years of experience in the building construction trades and/or building inspections OR any combination of education and experience which would confer equivalent knowledge and ability shall be deemed to satisfy this requirement.
– Possession of a valid Virginia driver’s license.
– Certification per Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code, (Virginia Certification Standards) within 18 months of hire.
