Preservation Planner/GIS Coordinator
Clarke County is seeking an experienced planning professional to serve as Preservation Planner/GIS Coordinator with the Department of Planning. This position serves as the County’s subject matter expert in the protection, preservation, and conservation of the County’s natural, water, and historic resources. In addition to managing the County’s natural and water resource planning activities and initiatives, the position manages three additional programs — the County’s geographic information system (GIS), the conservation easement program, and the historic preservation program. The position also provides daily support to the Department’s general planning and zoning functions.
The successful candidate is an independent self-starter and effective communicator with strong organizational skills, multitasking abilities, and demonstrated experience with public speaking, technical writing, and customer service. Preferred requirements include a graduate degree with coursework in planning, natural resource management, environmental science, or a field relevant to this position; five (5) years of experience as a natural resources, environmental, or preservation planner with a municipality, planning or engineering consulting firm or non-profit organization, or combination of both; three (3) years of experience as a GIS manager, coordinator, or other role requiring daily use of GIS; demonstrated experience with conservation easement programs or purchase of development rights (PDR) programs; and experience with Karst geology.
Position is full-time, salary dependent upon qualifications up to $55K. Recruitment is open until filled with first review of applications on October 18.
