Police Chief

Job Description:

Chief of Police – Glasgow, VA Population 1,450 and 1.5 square miles in area consisting of 550 residences, 28 businesses and one major industry. Glasgow is located in southeast Rockbridge County in close proximity to Natural Bridge, Buena Vista, Lexington, and the City of Roanoke. Glasgow is located at the confluence of the Maury and James Rivers and a short distance from the Appalachian Trail, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Natural Bridge State Park. Glasgow is designated as an Appalachian Trail Community with a town owned and maintained Trail Shelter and a privately operated hostel for hikers. The Police Chief position is responsible for providing protective service functions to include but not limited to enforcement of local ordinances and state laws. Educational requirement is at minimum a High School Diploma (Associates degree preferred). Current State of Virginia law enforcement officer certification is required. Salary is negotiable depending on qualifications, with full benefits, this is a salaried/ exempt position. The position reports to the Town Manager.
