Police Accreditation Coordinator

Job Description:

What You’ll Be Doing
This civilian, professional-level position located in the Leesburg Police Department works under the general supervision of the Administration and Support Services Lieutenant to perform a variety of technical work in the preparation, review, and site-based assessment of the department’s accreditation program. This position manages, implements, and directs processes to ensure and facilitate the department’s goal to maintain professional accreditation by the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission (VLEPSC). The position also maintains records to ensure compliance with VLEPSC’s term inspections to sustain a state of readiness in meeting re-accreditation standard proofs of compliance.

Selected candidates will join a full service Virginia law enforcement agency in an innovative municipality. Leesburg, hometown of the 21st century, is located 35 miles west of the nation’s capital and enjoys a vibrant and authentic community with a population of more than 50,000 residents. Required Qualifications
Associates/Technical Degree in public administration, business, criminal justice or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience in law enforcement and/or project management.
Experience in law enforcement accreditation or similar program.
Ability to independently exercise good professional judgment to ensure program compliance.
Program management experience
Ability to pass all background check requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in public administration, business, criminal justice or a related field.
Extensive experience managing a law enforcement accreditation program.
Extensive knowledge and experience in MS Office Suite, Adobe applications, and PowerDMS.
Bilingual in English/Spanish.
