Plans Examiner II
The primary responsibility of this position is to review and certify a variety of building and construction plans and documents for compliance with adopted State building codes and standards. This position is primarily responsible for the review of commercial and industrial projects, but may also review residential projects as needed. The Plans Examiner II works under the leadership of the Plans Examiner III, and may periodically provide direction and guidance to the Plans Examiner I’s.
This position requires strong customer service and communication skills, and the ability to establish effective working relationships with co-workers, the general public, and industry professionals.
The capability to interpret complex codes and information, and present that information to others in an easy-to-understand manner with clear recommendations, is an integral aspect of this position. The majority of work is performed independently within a team environment, and requires managing multiple tasks and projects in an organized and highly efficient manner. Reviews are performed both electronically and on paper, while utilizing online permitting and document review applications.
ICC or State certification as a Building Plans Examiner and Residential Plans Examiner is preferred.
Prior experience reviewing commercial construction plans for compliance with applicable codes and regulations is also preferred.
