Planning and Zoning Intern

Job Description:

The Department of Planning & Zoning is accepting applications for a summer internship opportunity for a college student interested in community planning-related work. This candidate performs a variety of support work for the Department of Planning and Zoning’s Land Use, Zoning, Preservation and Sustainability divisions. The primary purpose of this position is to assist with planning research and analysis, records management, data collection, public noticing, and database administration. This is a part-time temporary position designed to provide practical work experience to students.

Primary Duties of this position will complete planning and zoning projects involving research, analysis, reporting, and presentation. Closeout planning applications, zoning permits, or inspection cases in online land management system. Create public hearing noticing materials for active planning and zoning applications. Support Sustainability program by building energy usage tracking database for all Town facilities. Assist customers with planning and zoning questions or concerns on an as-needed basis.

Schedule
June-August 2023; 20-30 hours per week

Pay
$18/hour undergraduate ; $20/hour graduate
Required Qualifications
College student or vocational school student who has completed high school.

If driving is required, possession of a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.

Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual in English/Spanish.
