Planner I/II #25226
This position may be filled as either a Planner I or Planner II depending on the qualifications of the selected applicant. The associated pay grades and ranges are as follows:
Planner I: A.8 $47,840 – $73,465.60
Planner II: A.11 $55,494.40 – $85,196.80
Primary duties associated with this position are as follows:
Mapping and Modeling: Develop maps, plans, exhibits, building massing, data analysis and reporting utilizing Sketchup, the Adobe Creative Suite, ArcGIS, AutoCAD and other computer graphic programs.
Application of Urban Design, Land Use Planning, Landscape Architecture principles, policies, and guidelines: Graphically conceptualize land development on a parcel, block and multiple-block scenario basis, in accordance with relevant regulations and policies, utilizing relevant computer software applications.
Construction Document Review: Assist in the review of development-related applications, plans and proposals for compliance with City Code and policies relating to development in the Strategic Growth Areas as well as consistency with Strategic Growth Area long range plans.
Property Analysis and Acquisition: Review, evaluate, analyze, and develop reports regarding property acquisition, property assessed value, property ownerships, and property development alternatives.
Written and Verbal Communication: Provide written and verbal information to internal and external groups; assist with the facilitation of public meetings; develop written reports, meeting summaries, and briefings related to planning and development for Strategic Growth Areas.
Capital Project Support: Assist with the preparation of Capital Project budget submittal and presentations, track project milestones and schedules, assist project managers and consultants.
Cost Estimates and Budgeting: Develop cost estimates and budgets for public and private development projects
Planner I requires any combination of education (above the high school level) and/or experience equivalent to 6 years in fields such as urban planning that utilize the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Planner II requires any combination of education (above the high school level) and/or experience equivalent to 8 years in fields such as urban studies or regional planning that utilize the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
