Planner Associate – Land Use
Duties include but are not limited to: Reviewing plans, permits, and projects for compliance with relevant codes and ordinances, including effects of building form, mass, and materials; Providing technical assistance to clients; Preparing reports and presenting findings to boards, commissions, and Council; Supporting activities of the City Planning Commission, Urban Design Committee, and Commission of Architectural Review; Preparing mailings and public notices; Organizing and facilitating public engagement activities; Creating publications, presentations, and content for website; Leading project teams; Developing conceptual plans, diagrams, sketches, and renderings.
KNOWLEDGE. Basic knowledge of principles, methods, and practices of land use planning, urban design, or landscape architecture. Basic knowledge of site and building plans, including landscaping, lighting, and stormwater, and crime prevention elements. Basic knowledge of architectural styles, techniques, and typologies. Basic knowledge of federal, state, and local historic preservation laws and practices. Basic knowledge of pedestrian, bicycle, and transit transportation systems planning.
SKILLS. Developing conceptual plans, diagrams, sketches, and renderings using SketchUp, Irender nXt, ArcGIS, or AutoCAD. Preparing reports and present findings to boards and commissions. Organizing and facilitating public engagement activities. Creating publications, presentations, and content for website using Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator, or Photoshop, or Microsoft PowerPoint or Publisher. Leading project teams.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in city/urban planning, civil or environmental engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, real estate, law, or a related field; Three years of experience or an equivalent amount of graduate level training; An equivalent combination of training and experience may be used to meet the minimum qualifications
