Payroll/Human Resources Technician II
Provide excellent customer service by providing payroll and human resources (HR) support for the Police Department (603 authorized positions).
Process all payrolls for the Police Department to include verification of time card data, identifying & notating exceptions and signing off on payroll.
Review employee timecards to verify cycle hours/leave/etc.; make edits as requested; assist with schedule changes; supervisor changes; pay rule changes, manager updates, LWOP, FMLA, Workers Compensation, etc.
Assist personnel with payroll/HR related issues, preparing personnel correspondence, verifying and posting employee information, creating and maintaining various employee files and payroll documents to include scanning records to Laserfiche.
Research and evaluate personnel information to correct errors or respond to employee concerns.
Research, prepare or reconcile information for annual requests and special assignments by running reports in Munis, Kronos or using other department databases to collect data in order to meet deadlines.
Enter Personnel Action forms into Munis to make pay adjustments, location and cycle changes, new hires, terminations, retirees, record changes, employee status, light duty, FMLA, etc.
Coordinate with other Departments (Finance, Human Resources and Budget) regarding payroll, accounting, complement, and personnel related issues.
Assist with the onboarding of new hires for the department and prepare new hire packets; assist with offer letters and prepare salary calculations; out-process employee resignations and retirees to include COBRA notifications, leave payouts, etc.
Ensure the accuracy of leave balances and payouts in compliance with payroll and HR related policy and procedures.
Explain payroll and HR policies and procedures to employees through email, meetings and telephone.
Work with HR Absence Management on FMLA notifications and other benefit tracking as required.
Assist with reports for grant tracking, sale of service and physical invoices.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
