Parts Manager – Transit Department

The Charlottesville Transportation Department is seeking qualified candidates to be considered for the position of Parts Manager. This position performs responsible technical work in the development, maintenance, issuance and inventory of parts for a fleet of light, medium and heavy vehicles and equipment. Assists in the assignment of tasks to mechanic. Does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Assistant Transit Director of Maintenance and Facilities.
The hiring amount will be between $16.00 and $19.20 an hour ($33,281.06 to $39,936.00 annually). Starting offer is based on applicable education, experience, and internal equity. This is a full-time, non-exempt, position. – Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma/GED. (If no diploma or GED, minimally must completed education through tenth grade with four years of highly relevant work experience the automotive, truck or specialized motorized equipment field directly related to the purchase, stockage, issue, sales and/or accountability for parts and supplies.)
– Minimum of 2 years of experience in the automotive, truck or specialized motorized equipment field directly related to the purchase, stockage, issue, sales and/or accountability for parts and supplies.
– Possession of a valid, appropriate, driver’s permit issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia by employment start date and must be eligible to operate a City vehicle (To view our driving eligibility requirements, visit www.charlottesville.gov/faq.aspx?qid=166).
