Park Grounds Maintenance Laborer

Job Description:

Are you looking for a seasonal job that allows you to work primarily outdoors and utilize your maintenance skills to upkeep various park grounds? If so, apply to the City of Harrisonburg’s seasonal Park Grounds Maintenance Laborer position!

The ideal candidates for this position will perform a variety of manual labor work in the care and maintenance of park grounds. As a Park Grounds Maintenance Laborer, you may perform any of the following duties:
– Mowing/edging of parks or other grounds;
– Weedeating;
– General landscape installation and maintenance;
– Painting;
– Pressure washing;
– Performing light construction;
– Cleaning restrooms;
– Collecting trash;
– Using a variety of equipment and power tools, including but not limited to blowers, power-washers, lawn mowers, trimmers, and edgers;
– Assisting with installation, maintenance, and repair projects, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
– Completion of the tenth grade or an equivalent combination of education and experience. High school diploma or GED, preferred.
– Applicants must be at least 18 years of age prior to hire date, approximately 3 weeks after initial application date, due to the type of power tools utilized in this position.
– Possession of a valid driver’s license.
– Availability to work a flexible schedule, including approximately 1 weekend per month.
– Experience in park or general maintenance is preferred but not required.
