The Loudoun County, Virginia, Department of Building and Development (Department) is seeking an experienced professional to lead and manage a dynamic technical team responsible for administering and enforcing natural resource requirements in the County’s regulatory and policy documents, including the 2019 General Plan, the Zoning Ordinance, and the Facilities Standards Manual.
Maintaining, reviewing and analyzing data to ensure program continuity.
Monitoring resources needed to support program responsibilities.
Fostering a collaborative and innovative environment for staff to complete their work.
Promoting and engaging staff in professional development opportunities.
Providing excellent customer service and support services to the department, the County organization, stakeholders and the public.
Supporting strategic planning efforts of the department and the County.
The ideal candidate will be a clear and concise communicator, with the ability to effectively prepare and deliver presentations internally to staff and the public, including the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors. The ideal candidate will be organized, team oriented, and must show skills in establishing and maintaining relationships with fellow employees, County officials, contractors, and the public. The ideal candidate can solve problems and resolve conflict with minimal supervision and will have a working knowledge of policies and regulations (local, state and federal) surrounding natural resources.
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in engineering from a four year college or university accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technologies with coursework related to natural resource programs and five years of progressively professional engineering and construction management work experience to include two years of supervisory experience.
