Manager, Utility Protection

Job Description:

Loudoun Water, located in Ashburn VA, is a public utility that provides water and wastewater service to customers in Loudoun County. The individual under supervision of the Program Director will manage the Utility Protection department and all pertinent activities associated with Loudoun Water assets, to ensure all work occurs in accordance with standards, policies, procedures, and laws governing. Essential functions include:

• Coordinates and supervises the duties of the utility protection department effectively.
• Ensures successful execution of excavation notification tickets (VA811) and appropriate marking/protection of existing water and wastewater utilities.
• Ensures compliance with the requirements of The Virginia Underground Utility Damage Prevention Act.
• Coordinates with multi-discipline LW teams, addressing complex field issues and policy/procedural updates.
• Participates in the record drawing/GIS program to increase awareness, accuracy, and involvement.
• Chairs the Damage Investigation Committee, managing, coordinating, and executing all aspects associated.
• Participates in internal committee and coordination meetings, and external meetings involving utility protection related issues, i.e., VA811, SCC, government actions, etc.
• Achieves financial objectives by preparing and administering the Utility Protection budget.

We are looking for a highly motivated, self-starter with the ability to work well with others, multitask and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, has an eye for detail, and has excellent

Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field with progressively responsible professional experience in the construction of public water and wastewater facilities. Combination of extensive field and supervisory experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree. Supervisory experience preferred.

Special Requirements: If selected for employment all new hires must be willing to get vaccinated or provide proof of vaccination for Covid-19 prior to their start date.
