What You’ll Be Doing
This position involves responsible skilled and semiskilled maintenance work in the Department of Public Works and Capital Projects- Streets Division, that can include performing maintenance and repair activities on Town streets, parks and grounds. Work includes working outdoors in all types of weather conditions, asphalt repairs, spreading gravel, stone or other construction materials, cleaning and assisting in repairing gutters, catch basins, storm drains and drainage ditches, flagging traffic, cutting and chipping brush, mowing, operating weed eaters, raking leaves, roadside trash pick-up, snow removal operations and assisting with special community events.
Career Development Program
The Town’s Public Works and Capital Projects- Streets Division offers a career development program. The purpose of this program is to recognize and compensate those individuals who have acquired additional or advanced work related knowledge, skills and abilities during their career with the Town’s Streets Division. This program provides a career development plan based on an employee’s performance, training and length of service.
HS/GED; minimum of one (1) year of experience performing a variety of skilled trades and/or maintenance work; basic knowledge of landscaping tools, equipment and construction skills; must possess a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record; possess a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) – Class B, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment; certification in CPR/AED and First Aid or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.
