Maintenance Technician III – Turf Crew’s Leader
Job Description:
The ideal candidate will support the Transportation Division by supervising and participating in the work of three Turf Crew’s. Engaged in a variety of turf maintenance activities throughout the City Rights of Way (ROW) and adhering to an established mowing cycle. Must have knowledge of and ability to skillfully operate and do routine daily service and maintenance on a wide variety of equipment including Ventrac, zero-turn and walk-behind mowers, string trimmers, edgers and leaf blowers. Perform semi-skilled landscape maintenance including minor tree pruning, brush removal, hydroseeding, mulching, turf renovations and other landscape maintenance duties as needed. Must have the ability to perform word processing, record keeping and report preparation on a computer and effectively use basic office equipment including computers, calculators, copiers, cell phones and mobile radios. Operate light to heavy equipment during snow removal. Must be able to obtain a valid Class B CDL license with air brake and tanker endorsements within 6 months of employment. Must possess an Intermediate Work Zone Traffic Control Certificate, Registered Technician Pesticide License and Certified Fertilizer Applicator Certificate within 12 months of employment. Qualifications include high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 3 to 5 years of experience and/or training in applying herbicides/fertilizer and turf maintenance or equivalent combination of education and experience.
