Maintenance Specialist III – Turf

The preferred hiring amount will be between $17.01 – $22.83 an hour. Starting offer is based on applicable education, experience, and internal equity. This is a full-time, non-exempt, position. This position is responsible for grounds and turf maintenance in city parks, schools, right-of-ways and other City properties. This position is key to maintaining and leading an effective team that exhibits flexibility and follows defined schedules requiring skilled labor with a high level of responsibility. The crew is engaged in a variety of maintenance responsibilities including but limited to mowing, fertilization, aeration, leaf removal, invasive and perimeter brush control, and snow removal. Performs other duties as assigned. in addition, serves as a second level of supervision for turf crew. May supervise the work of staff, which may include voluntary, temporary and benefited staff. Reports to a Maintenance Specialist IV or a Management Specialist I or II.
Minimum Qualifications:
– Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.
– At least three years of experience in a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
– Supplemental college level or technical / vocational school course work in related subjects preferred.
– At least one year of experience in a lead/supervisory position preferred.
