It is anticipated that successful candidates will contribute to the team on a long-term basis. The purpose of this position is to augment the team and provide extra hands during times of peak workload and staff vacancies. The successful candidate will report to work at City Hall in Chesapeake. There may be an opportunity for a partial telework schedule after the training period.

Successful candidates will possess the following traits:

 -Ability to adapt quickly to new environments and learn new skills
 -Experience providing service to internal and external customers
 -Attention to detail
 -Strong writing skills
 -Ability to manage multiple tasks, projects and deadlines
 -Awareness of the procurement profession and public sector environment and motivation to learn more about same
 -Awareness of the legal aspects of public procurement and ability to learn more about same
 -College degree (strongly preferred, but not required)

Due to the several months of training required to equip the selected candidate to fully contribute to the team, the City seeks candidates seeking to be in this position for a minimum of two years.

Compensation is negotiable depending on qualifications and experience. Employment will be through a temporary staffing term so that VRS retirement benefits are not impacted.

Anyone who may be interested in this opportunity, please contact Deputy City Manager Laura Fitzpatrick lfitzpatrick@cityofchesapeake.net and Chief Procurement Officer Tony Cannion acannion@cityofchesapeake.net . Phone 757-382-6166.  Interested candidates are encouraged to reach out immediately as the City team is very eager to fill this position.  Thank you!
