Library Program Specialist -Youth (PT)

Job Description:

Duties:
Library Program Specialist – Youth Track (PT)

Collaborates with colleagues to develop programs, share resources, and communicate trends for youth
Plans and prepares exhibits and displays and participates in outreach that increase community awareness of library services and resources.
Provide quality customer service and public relations
Conduct reference interviews; explain library policies and procedures to respond to customer concerns; possess a broad knowledge of print, non-print and electronic resources; develop search strategies to locate information
Develops innovative and informative displays, programs, and training that increase community awareness of library services and resources
Instruct customers in the location and use of materials and equipment; provide bibliographic instruction; recommend materials to library customers; provide assistance, information and materials to customers who have varied cultural, intellectual and technical interests
Provide instructions in the use of electronic resources including the Internet; provide assistance/training and troubleshooting to staff and customers for technology-related problems and devices
Establish positive, effective instructions and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Knowledge of social, cognitive, emotional, and educational stages of youth and teens
Maintains an ongoing knowledge of reading trends
Research, designs, and attends trainings to keep current on trends in libraries and youth
