Assists with the organization, direction and control of the field activities of assigned crew members. Performs difficult and complex work and supervises crew engaged in various technical activities. Work is performed under general supervision. This position is non-exempt.
Some of the duties of the position include:
-Supervises and assigns work, prepares records and reports of crew activities; performs a variety of administrative functions necessary for the operation of the crew and accomplishment of goals.
-Assists with work planning, allocates and monitors time, people and equipment for the crew to ensure efficient organization and completion of work.
-Climbs poles; operates bucket truck; installs hardware, fuses transformers and pulls wires.
-Assembles and fastens cross-arm sets on erection poles.
-Replaces malfunctioning equipment on poles.
-Installs, repairs and maintains underground service.
-Installs transformers and other auxiliary equipment.
-Reconnects lines and fastens guy wires.
-Installs and removes cross arms cutouts, lightning arrestors, primary and secondary lines, span guys, etc.
-Carries out requisite ground work in preparation for and at the conclusion of a job and maintains appropriate records and files.
-Handles a variety of emergency problems.
-May be required to be on stand-by or work trouble calls.
-Repairs and maintains traffic signal lights and controls.
-Attends safety meetings and training classes.
-Responds to after-hours emergencies.
-In the absence of the Line Superintendent, the incumbent will performs the duties as assigned.
-Performs other related duties as assigned.
