Laboratory Technician

Job Description:

The Department of Utilities is a hard-working team of friendly professionals who strive together to exceed excellence. The Water Pollution Control Division (WPCD) is responsible for the safe and efficient treatment of wastewater generated within the Leesburg service area and the subsequent stabilization and disposal of the solid wastes produced to ensure the protection of public health and the environment.

What You’ll Be Doing
This position involves technical work in the Department of Utilities in performing essential laboratory requirements for the wastewater treatment plant. Work involves daily laboratory activities, including sampling and performing laboratory testing; and conducting quality control procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school (or GED), including completion of biology and chemistry courses; possession of a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record; knowledge in MS Suite applications and computer program applications appropriate to the position; available and able to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Schedule
Works rotating 10-hour shifts and every third weekend. May include working nights and holidays. Schedule is subject to change with the possibility of working rotating 8-hour shifts, based upon the needs of the Water Pollution Control Division.
