IT Support Specialist

Job Description:

IT Support Specialist – The City of Radford is looking for an IT Support Specialist to join our established team. The IT Support Specialist will perform intermediate technical work networking computer hardware and software and providing assistance to users. The successful candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience in IT support and have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Must possess a valid driver’s license in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Work is performed under the general supervision of the IT Manager.
The IT Support Specialist will support the City’s financial software package, server and operating system; implement and support IP based telephone system; set up new user accounts along with permission level and establish password and account policies; must maintain City email server including automated and manual backup and restore processes; responsible for troubleshooting and resolving system hardware, software and communications problems and schedule repairs as needed. The IT Support Specialist will evaluate requests for hardware and software; research and recommend solutions that are compatible with the City’s technology architecture and infrastructure and resource constraints; assist in drafting Requests for Proposals and processing purchase requests; will provide user support, conduct training while working with the City staff to ensure the effective safeguarding and sharing of enterprise data.

The City of Radford offers a competitive salary (range $49,000 – $77,000 depending upon qualifications), along with an excellent benefits package that includes 100% employer paid single health insurance with no deductible along with retirement benefits through VRS.
