IT Public Safety Specialist
Job Description:
The City of Manassas welcomes applications for our IT Public Safety Specialist position! We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable candidate who can successfully provide first line hardware and software support to public safety personnel. This position is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and configuring applications on computers, servers, printers, and other peripherals, and performing malware/virus removal and system recovery
This position will work as the IT Liaison to the Police Department, providing on-site technical support including administration, maintenance, and enhancements of Police Department computer systems and related peripherals and will participate in making appropriate recommendations for the implementation of computer technology.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field supplemented by two (2) years experience utilizing computer technology; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
Familiarity with law enforcement applications (VCIN/NCIC, Computer Aided Dispatch, Netmotion VPN, and RMS), including security, user profiles, performance monitoring and tuning, hardware/software inventory and tape backup and recovery of systems is desired.
Essential Job Functions
Performs administration of Police Department systems including security, user profiles, software metering, performance monitoring and tuning, hardware and software inventory, recovery of systems; administers and maintains police systems servers (RMS, CAD, Message Switch, LPR), Net Motion VPN server, and OSSI Management.
Configures, implements, maintains, enhances, and supports PD hardware and software technology including Tablets, MCT, Mobile Field Reporting, Aircards, Wi-Fi, Gobi, AVL/GPS, license plate readers, mobile printers, CAD to CAD, Finger print readers, EverBridge emergency communication system, security cameras, interview system, configures and maintains VCIN terminals (CPI Messenger software connection to the State).
Develops and maintains documentation of Police Department computer applications and hardware.
