IT Cyber Engineer

Job Description:

Are you ready to take the next step of your career with an exciting opportunity in cyber engineering? Consider joining the City of Manassas.

The City of Manassas is looking for a tech-savvy professional to be responsible for development and implementation of security controls to preserve the confidentiality, integrity and availability of City of Manassas computer networks and information systems. This includes documenting, planning, monitoring, training, troubleshooting, implementing, maintenance, upgrades, and repair of security resources to protect against infiltration, cyber-attacks, unauthorized access, modifications, or destruction.

Essential Job Functions
Assesses internal processes and procedures related to Information Security. Performs vulnerability assessments of external and internal systems. Performs penetration test audits for internal and external testing. Performs analysis of Security Controls. Review and compare network and system architecture against security best practices. Performs remediation of security audit findings.

Protects against threats using a layered defense in depth approach.

Develops and implements security monitoring procedures, and monitors system and network traffic for suspicious behavior.

Analyzes security requirements and recommend processes, services, software, hardware, and other tools to support business objectives pertinent to security technologies

Supports Security Awareness Training process for the enterprise.

Updates software with the latest security patches and ensuring the proper defenses are present for each network resource.
Helps with developing disaster recovery and incident response plans.

Assists in the design and develop information security procedures and policies spanning IT operations, administration, monitoring and management, networks, infrastructures and datacenters.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Network Administration or related field
Three years of experience in network and security administration, computer operations/maintenance, hardware/software troubleshooting.
Must possess and maintain a combination of the following certifications: CEH, CISM, GSEC, or equivalent, Comptia A+, Security+, Network+
Must possess and maintain a valid Virginia driver’s license
