IT Business Architect
Job Description:
The City of Virginia Beach Information Technology (IT) Department is currently seeking a full-time Business Architect to manage and support enterprise services, software, and hardware. The Business Architect will lead the advanced design activities to develop new infrastructure-hosting platforms for applications, systems, and technical processes. This role requires complex anlaysis and planning to update legacy systems, replace software, and identify products and services that will enhance business operations. The Business Architect plays a key role in defining and designing business processes, functions, and organizational structures as well as researching, identifying, and internally marketing technologies based on customer requirements. This position determines customer business/process issues and translates them into business requirements to champion innovative change and technology-enabled solutions.
The Business Architect will recommend and implement guardrails to guide people, processes, business models, investments, and organizational change to achieve targeted business outcomes. This individual will engage business partners in analyzing, strategizing, and prioritizing processes to ensure projects meet the intended business requirements. The ideal candidate will be self-driven, collaborative, and eager to enact beneficial change.
Responsibilities:
Provide technical leadership to identify and evaluate software trends and develop an adoption roadmap.
Map interdependencies between processes, applications, data, and technologies (conceptual modelling and review).
Recommend upgrades based on business trends or changes in the nature of the systems that use architecture; provide cost/benefit analysis for business architecture design; and balance the requirements for quality against development and maintenance costs in resolving architectural issues.
Develop and communicate architectural policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures while bridging the gap between business needs and technological solutions.
Design future processes based on KPIs and lean principles and seek short/mid-term improvements.
