The Skatepark Instructor is responsible for planning, instructing and supervising a specialized class or program that requires unique skills, abilities and/or experiences and may require one or more types of certification.
Skateboard Instructors will be needed year-round. However, scheduling, classes offered, and hours of work may vary as classes are self-supporting and funding comes from participant fees. Participants may include individuals or groups across the age and ability spectrum. Primarily and most frequently, work is performed under direct supervision within one functional area and of a routine nature. Reports to a Parks and Recreation Operations Specialist.
-Must be 18 years or older by employment start date;
-Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma;
-Minimum of three (3) months of related experience instructing/supervising individuals in the specialized class OR a minimum of two (2) years of experience participating at a high level in the specialized skill/class in a competitive and/or organized environment;
-Must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include early mornings, weeknights, weekends and holidays;
-All staff serving in this role must attend the Parks and Recreation Certification program for Instructors on an annual basis;
-Depending upon assignment, may require American Red Cross Instructor Certification (WSI, LGI, LGIT and Coaches Safety Training), OSHA and Blood Borne Pathogens, current CPR/First Aid certification and/or certification from a nationally-accredited organization in a specialty area.
This position may be required to work weekends, nights and/or holidays. This is a safety sensitive position subject to drug and alcohol testing for pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident and random testing.
