The starting hiring amount is $19.55 to $34.22 an hour for this position. This is a temporary position with no benefits.
This position is responsible for planning, instructing and supervising water safety instruction/certification courses that require unique skills, abilities and/or experiences and may require one or more types of certification. Instruction may target individuals or groups across the age and ability spectrum. Primarily and most frequently, work is performed under direct supervision within one functional area and of a routine nature. Reports to a Parks and Recreation Operations Specialist.
-Requires American Red Cross Instructor Certification (WSI, LGI, LGIT and Coaches Safety Training) by date of hire.
-Must be at least 16 years of age by employment start date.
-Completion of education through the 9th grade required.
-Must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include early mornings, weeknights, weekends and holidays
-May require OSHA and Blood Borne Pathogens certification and current CPR/First Aid certification and/or certification from a nationally-accredited organization in a specialty area by date of hire.
-All staff serving in this role must attend the Parks and Recreation Certification program for Instructors on an annual basis.
