Human Resources Generalist I (Employee Relations)
The Human Resources Generalist I (Employee Relations) position is responsible for performing all professional level HR duties with this position’s emphasis on the following functional area: Employee Relations.
Provides guidance in the resolution of complex employee relations issues and advises supervisors/management in the areas of: employee coaching, counseling and/or disciplinary process, performance monitoring and evaluation, employment laws, and City policies;
Assists with the review and edit of coaching and disciplinary communications to employees;
Provides guidance to managers and employees as requested regarding application of policies and procedures relevant to specific situations / issues;
Proactively recommends new processes and modifications to existing processes and policies by assessing needs. Facilitates management-approved improvements in order to meet organizational objectives;
Collects, understands, and analyzes data/information to provide insight to Human Resources (HR) leadership on trends, address HR-related issues and concerns, and/or identify departmental strengths and areas of opportunity;
Assists in other HR functional areas to include classification, compensation, and recruitment as well as manage projects.
The successful candidate will possess outstanding oral and written communication skills; demonstrated experience of significant interaction with executive level leadership; strong business acumen; strong organizational skills, demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and able to react to shifting priorities to meet business needs; demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and commitments; and excellent interpersonal skills.
Qualified candidates must possess a minimum of eight years of professional level, directly-related experience. A bachelor’s degree in human resources management, business or public administration, management or a closely related field may substitute for four years of professional level experience.
