Human Resources Generalist

Job Description:

Albemarle County is seeking an experienced full-time HR Generalist to support the County’s HR initiatives and interface with County government and public safety departments. Under general supervision of the Deputy Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Generalist advises departments on HR functions including, but not limited to, recruitment/selection, onboarding, performance management, benefit offerings, employee relations, regulatory requirement, and pay practices. The County offers a robust benefits package including paid leave, health benefits, tuition reimbursement, and membership in the Virginia Retirement System. Personal and professional growth are encouraged and fully supported with funded opportunities for training classes, seminars, conferences, and professional certifications. This position is eligible for telework options in accordance with the County’s remote work policy. All County staff must maintain Virginia residency throughout the duration of their employment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or
university with a bachelor’s degree in business, management, human resources, industrial psychology,
or related field, and five (5) years of Human Resources experience to include HRIS platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Management, Human Resources, or Public
Administration
• Experience working in local or state government
• Experience in marketing or recruiting
• Professional human resources certification issued by IPMA-HR, HRCI, or SHRM.
