Human Resources Coordinator
The City of Virginia Beach’s Department of Human Resources seeks an innovative and forward-thinking Human Resources Coordinator to lead a diverse team of professionals. Under the direction of the Employee Relations Manager, this position provides professional-level, advanced and consultative work in the Employee Relations Division. Requires any combination of education (above the high school level) and/or experience equivalent to eleven (11) including two (2) years in a supervisory role or lead role, in fields utilizing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities and associated with such positions such as HR Analyst or HR Manager.
Key duties of this position include:
Assess work effort and results of direct reports, extend needed clarification or take corrective actions as needed – maintaining a focus on individual development.
Extend work assignments, assess work activities and outcomes, and set priorities as conflicts arise.
Assists with short- and long-term planning for the varied functions of employee relations.
Assists the Employee Relations Manager with key division projects and activities.
Independently conduct complex workplace investigations making appropriate recommendations for corrective actions.
Serve as administrator for employee relations case management system.
Regularly provide analysis on organization trends developing and implementing change management initiatives to assist departments in achieving organizational goals.
Draft EEOC position statements, investigative reports, grievability determinations and other professional documents in compliance with City policy and applicable laws or regulations.
Prepare and conduct a variety of employee relations training.
